As issued to the Italian Army, most BM59s were equipped with a clip guide to facilitate emergency loading via stripper clips. Unlike the US M14, the M1 Garand receiver that was used as the basis for the BM59 was never designed to have a clip guide installed. The solution that Beretta developed was a clip guide that attached to the receiver via a drilled hole in the receiver bridge, mating with a clip guide with a stud in the back.

In order to convert the Garand receiver to a BM 59 receiver, it was first annealed to make it machinable. After annealing, the receiver could then be modified to accept a box type magazine, amongst other things. After annealing, the receiver bridge was milled, the clip guide hole was drilled, and it was then permanently welded in place. The receiver would then again be heat treated to return to its required hardness.

Since the clip guides were permanently attached to the receiver, the originals were destroyed when the rifles were demilled. We have reverse engineered the clip guide part from recovered originals, and have welded them to the receiver as they originally were, prior to heat treatment.

While sounding simple, adding the clip guide is a very labor intensive process, and we will only do these as a limited production run.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR US TO ADD A CLIP GUIDE TO A RECEIVER AFTER IT HAS BEEN THROUGH HEAT TREATMENT. TO BE CLEAR:  WE WILL NOT RETROACTIVELY ADD A GUIDE TO AN EXISTING RECEIVER.

We charge an additional $200 for BM59s equipped with a stripper clip guide to cover the cost of manufacturing and installation.

The price for a standard ITAL BM59 with guide is normally $2,395. For a very limited time, this model will be available at an introductory price of $1,995.
