JRA restored original. 1862 dared pattern 1853 enfield. Typical musket produced in Birmingham England and imported by both sides during the Civil War. Metal has been repolished and does show some minor pitting. These muskets were originally blued by the British but in American use the troops were ordered to polish the metal. 1862 dated lock plate. The barrel has been reworked by Hoyt machine shop and has 1-66 3 groove progressive depth rifling. .577 bore diameter with an uncontoured dovetailed front sight. N-SSA approved
