Percussion conversion of an 1834 Johnson contract musket. This model was an 1850s arsenal conversion. The model 1816 was in extensive use in 1861 and 1862. For southern troops these were used throughout the entire Civil War. Musket is in decent condition with a minimal of the pitting usually seen in a 180+ year old firearm. We did some minor polishing and cleanup of the parts, but overall this is a very nice musket as it is. We sent the barrel to Hoyt machine shop to be refined and as such has essentially a new bore. Perfect for the N-SSA smoothbore match. 69 caliber
