Vacuum sealed package of 30 loaded musket cartridges. A modern take on the original cartridge, it contains a pre-greased .575 diameter 500 grain traditional Minie ball and 48 grains of 2F black powder. This loading has consistently provided a very accurate load and it is what we use in N-SSA competition. The 500 grain traditional Minie ball was developed early in the Civil War. The British Enfield became the substitute standard on both sides but had a .577 bore while the standard US production was a .580. The earlier 460 grain Minie was at .577 and proved very difficult to load in the Enfield. The 500 grain Minie was designed with a deep hollow base and thin sidewalls that would expand during firing to accommodate both bore sizes. This loading will work equally well with both original muskets and the reproduction muskets which tend to have a .577 bore. Package contains 30 cartridges. The plastic tubes should not be loaded into the musket! They are often reusable if you wish to start loading your own
