The mounted infantry variant was produced using existing Mississippi rifles in the mid 1850’s and saw extensive use both sides in the Civil War. This is a restored original with a replacement long range sight and an uncontoured dovetailed front sight. Barrel has been recut by Hoyt machine shop and is .577. 1-60 7 groove. This rifle was originally produced by Eli Whitney in 1851. N-SSA approved. Surviving examples of this model are rare and usually in very rough condition.
