This is a restored original model 1863 produced at Bridesburg in 1864. It is the type 1 with the clamping bands. The vast majority of model 1863s were produced at Springfield only a few were done by contractors. This musket has a Hoyt liner with 1-72 3 groove progressive depth rifling. The model 1863 was viewed as an improvement over the 1861 by directly have the flash channel into the barrel breach.
