We have been working with Hoyt machine shop to bring back the exceptional line of Civil War musket barrels that he used to produce. James River is machining the breaches from barstock (not cast) and providing them to Hoyt to fabricate the barrels. These have been contoured to original configuration. Final polishing will be needed. The barrel cost is 395+ 20 for installation of a dovetailed front (provided). Rear sight machining is provided as well as a clean out screw. Nipple threading is original standard 5/16 x 24.
The 1861 barrel is 40.5” long with the extra 1/2” to allow for recrowning. Rifling is 3 groove progressive depth 1-60. This will be more accurate than the original barrel. We can date the breach if you would like just note in the comments section. We can also provide different sight machining. Please email us if you require something different. N-SSA approved
