This is technically a reproduction of the Palmetto model 1842. This was built by James River utilizing an original model 1842 as the base arm. The bands are reproductions and new markings have been applied but the rest of the musket is original with a new ramrod. The smoothbore 69 caliber barrel only has some minor pitting in the bore. The original stock is one of the nicest original 42 stocks we have seen. There is minor pitting down the barrel. This is a great opportunity to own what is an almost unobtainable model originally used by South Carolina troops in the Civil War. This is a great model to use in the smoothbore match and is N-SSA approved.
